Judowibowo Poerwowidagdo

After graduating from Tech Hi, I returned to Indonesia, and went to Jakarta Theological Seminary. I graduated with a Bachelor of Theology degree in 1964, and went to Irian Jaya (Papua). I married my wife, Timur Indyah Judokusumo there, and worked in the Protestant Church of Irian Jaya (Papua), teaching Christian religion in Public High School Schools. In 1966 I went to San Francisco Theological Seminary, San Anselmo and received a Master of Arts degree in Christian Education (1968). In January 1969 I went to Pittsburgh University, Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania and got my Ph.D. in Foundations of Education in 1972. I returned to Indonesia and taught at Duta Wacana United Theological College in Yogyakarta. In 1985 I was appointed to become the Rector (the President) of Duta Wacana Christian University, Yogyakarta. In August 1990, I was appointed to work in the World Council of Churches, in Geneva, Switzerland for seven years, as Executive Secretary for Programs in Theological Education until 1997, and continued to work with the World Council of Churches, as Consultant on Ecumenical Education but based in Indonesia until the end of 1999. From July 2000, I was appointed as President of Krida Wacana Christian University, in Jakarta.

After retiring from the post as President of the Christian University KRIDA WACANA in Jakarta, in 2002, I worked as Executive Director of the Center for Empowering Reconsiliation and Peace until 2009. Now I work, part time, as Chairman of the Board of a Christian University in Salatiga, Central Java (Universitas Kristen Satya Wacana), about two hours drive from Yogyakarta, where I live with my wife. Our children are grown-ups and they both are married. Our son, Hananto Kusumo is now a pastor of a local Congregation in Salatiga, and is doing a graduate study in Theology (M.Th). He has two children, Deborah and Yahya, while our daughter is living with her husband in Nyon, Switzerland. They have no children yet.

I attended the 40th year reunion in September 2001, and it was great. I am very sorry for not being able to attend the 50th year reunion.
