Very sad to hear that Steve passed in a tragic way.

The last I communicated with him, as I recall, was after a recent Class event.  I bought, as a contriibution to the Class of '61, an autographed copy of his translation of the Stieg Larsson triology, which he had translated from the Swedish. As we all know, Steve was a brilliant guy, and his translation skills were only one of his talents.

Steve, George Ferreira, and I used to hang around College Avenue occasionally.

We'll miss you, Steve.

So sorry to hear of Steve's passing.  We were classmates at Washington Elementary School.  At Claremont, we shared an intense interest in rock 'n roll.  We reconnected in '71 thanks to this OTHS website.  We hooked up in '71when he came to visit to his ailing mother and on his Steig Larrsen book tour at the Commonwealth Club In ST.   In '72, my wife and I went to Albuquerque to spent a few days Steve and Tiina.  Sadly, his health was in decline from diabetes.  An absolutely brilliant guy with a rye sense of humor. I shall miss him.

I was saddened to hear of Steve's passing.  He was my best friend at Tech & we even spent 2 summers working at the Oakland Rec Dept's Tuolomne camp.  I hadn't seen Steve for a long time, but we did keep in touch.  We had a lot of adventures together & I hope he's in a good place!

So sad to learn of the passing of another longtime friend and classmate.  I had many e-mail chats with Steve over the years.

Steve will be remembered from what would be called pre-algebra, today, in grade eight at Claremont, with Duane Tom, when we were all fed up with Miss Greenspan and being kept after school for the hyginks of a few 'class clowns'.  If I recall, it was these two, along with a few others who started a petition to have her terminated.

Sorry to hear of Steve's death.  Marilyn (Fazio McQueen) and I had been in contact with him a few years ago.  We were fascinated to talk about his work in translating Swedish to English for books like the "The Girl with the Dragon Tatoo".  What a brilliant mind and yet so very cordial and welcoming.    Planned to visit again when in New Mexico.

My favorite memory of Steve was how well he had mastered Elvis' pelvis gyrations.  These he would perform almost every day at the noon dances at Claremont Junior High.  Bruce and I have often mused about the noon dances....every day after lunch.  I wonder if the dances were used to keep "the calm" during lunch time.  As a teacher, I often chuckled about the teachers at Claremont drawing Noon Dance Duty, including breaking up making-outers in the darkened corners of the gym!  Steve and his gyrations were always a highlight of those dances.  I was so saddened to hear that he is gone.

I was so sorry to hear of Steve's death. He was memorable! Like Marilyn Fazio McQueen, I remember Steve's Elvis antics. One of my favorite memories is his re-telling an Elvis movie (can't remember which one for sure) complete with the songs, of course, and the backgrounds by the Jordanaires.
