Diane was my oldest friend.  We were neighbors on Chabot Crest  when we were three years old. My family  moved to New York when i was 5 but then we continued our friendship when I moved back to Oakland and we attended Claremont Junior High together.  Diane and I were masters at making each other laugh uncontrollably which got us in trouble with Mr. Tranchina and with the librarian.  She was responsible for me getting to know Bruce McQueen when we were juniors.  She had invited him to a dance and I asked her if she would mind if I cut in on a dance (the rest is history...Bruce and I have been married for 47 years).  I was thrilled to reunite with her at the 50th reunion.  We had a lot of catching up to do.  She had a wonderful sense of humor and was always fun to be around, when we were little girls together and when we were in high school.  I know she is at peace now after her illness.

I was saddened to hear about Diane's passing.  I remember her as a very pretty girl with a great sense of humor.  One summer in the 1960's, I worked at a summer camp in the Santa Cruz Mts.  One of the counselors at the camp was a girl named Mandy who was a sorority sister of Diane's at UCSB.  Diane was the house president.  I hope Diane lived a wonderful life & I hope she's in a great place.  Aloha

I was shocked and sorry to hear about DIane's passing. Like many of her classmates, I went through Claremont Jr. High and Tech with her. She was always so "up" and full of fun and laughter.  We will all miss her very much.  I am glad I had a good visit with her at the reunion and bless her for gracing my life all those years.  "Be at Peace, Diane."

I can't say I knew Diane well but I would always believe that anyone who knew her liked her. She had a welcoming smile and it was easy to feel comfortable around her. Maybe some one could enlighten us about her illness, not that it wil make this easier for us to deal with but would fill in the blanks for us. Marilyn, I am sorry for your personal loss of a best friend.

Diane had a great smile and attitude... we shared a number of laughs way back then; I hope she continued to laugh all the way through...

About a year after the 50th reunion, Diane was diagnosed with a brain tumor.  She fought hard, but the cancer had spread to her lungs.  She stayed upbeat through the radiation treatments, emailing funny and uplifting messages via email.  She is survived by a daughter and grandchild.
