Margaret Lima (Wilkinson)

We received notification from one of Margaret Lima's friends. On June 27, Margaret Wilkinson passed away in her sleep. There is a brief announcement of her death on the KPFA web site:

Maggie and I became friends during our senior year at Tech.  She was smart, funny and just different enough than I was to challenge me in good ways.  I always looked forward to seeing her at reunions and catching up on her life.  I loved reading the KPFA piece Laurie posted.  She was obviously remarkable and true to herself right up to the end.  RIP wonderful woman.

Margy and I became friends as Girl Scouts during Jr. high. I admred her. She was always true to her values  beliefs and true to herself.

I'm stunned by the news that Margy (Lima) Wilkinson is no longer with us. It's difficult to grapple with losing her even though our adult life encounters were only occasional.  I first met her when we were in junior high at Claremont as members of the Girl Scouts there. I remember long walks home from school, talking and laughing all the way.  I ran into Margy a few weeks ago at the supermarket and had a brief but enjoyable conversation with her about the insanity of our times. We laughed and shook our heads about it and vowed to "fight on" in spite out it. I will miss her and find it hard to accept the reality that we won't be crossing paths periodically anymore.
