I first met Pam about 1957 at Westlake, even though I went to Claremont Jr. High. We both played flute in an honor band that rehearsed at Westlake. Later we both played flute in the Tech band, and we saw each other at Cal as well. I have many happy memories of the music and friendship we shared.
With heartfelt condolences to Pam's family from Christine Ronay Johnston

Pam and I first became friends when I enrolled at Westlake Junior High School in the last semester
of our 9th grade year. She was first chair flutist in the orchestra and I accompanied her on piano
on several occasions, and our friendship blossomed because we had the same class schedule.
Always upbeat, funny, adventurous, and lively - - Pam was fun to be around, and smart-as -a-whip.
At Tech we didn't have any classes together but stayed in touch. At U. C. Berkeley Pam majored
in Bacteriology, made Phi Beta Kappa and married Jesse Ochoa before graduation.
Pam and Jesse had two daughters and two sons. She had recently retired from a career in
research, and continued to play the flute in a community orchestra and at her church.
I'll always remember Pam.
